BLANC DE BLANCS
Our BLANC DE BLANCS is favoured by the sparkling Connoisseurs.
The Schloss Gobelsburg BLANC DE BLANCS style is on one side marked by the vineyards of the Danube region and their grape varieties (Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Chardonnay). On the other side is the character marked by the vinification in barrels made of Austrian oak trees. Grapes are harvested at the optimal moment, transported in small boxes and are immediately pressed, whereby only the heart of the must is used. After six months of cask storage, it is bottled for the second fermentation. It matures for between 2,5 and 3 years on the lees, allowing the wine to develop a beautiful creamy texture, until it is hand riddled and then disgorged.
AWARDS & TASTING NOTES
WINE ENTHUSIAST, tasting 12/01/2020: rating 92
A flinty sense of reduction is soon followed by creamy, smoky notions of Mirabelle plum on the nose. The palate remains taut and carries the smoky fruit aloft on its myriad creamy bubbles. Tautness and freshness are key on this wonderfully austere and grown-up Sekt. Lemony briskness, autolytic depth and smoldering smokiness make for a great trio.

SUSIE BERRIE MW: Rating 96
From its struck-match, toasted hazelnut nose to its steely, mouthwatering palate, it is quite superb. A real standout.
